Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop that attracted attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. In the midst of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. In 2020, there were 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 with a version in two languages. Then, various artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 Certain reggaeton performers have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. A new group, Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the evolution and development of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance, as well as other types.
